China Green Times reported on January 18: On January 15, Luo Fuhe, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC and Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy came to the State Forestry Administration (SFA) meeting with key members of the leadership of the SFA. He pointed out that in the past year, forestry sector has made great achievements due to the hard work by all the staffs in forestry sector, although the sector has experienced a very hard environmental conditions. The rapid growth of forest resources has made a special contribution to the sustainable development of national economy and social progress. In the new year, forestry sector should take the historic opportunity for development, uphold confidence and try hard to publicize the strategic role of forestry, pushing forestry into a new stage of development. Mr. Jia Zhibang, the Administrator of the SFA, Mr. Zhu Lieke, the Vice Administrator, and several other key members of the SFA leadership attended the meeting.

Mr. Jia said, forestry plays an major role in building an ecological civilization and shoulders important historical commitment in combating climate change and maintaining ecological security, forestry has become one of the focuses of worldwide concern. He highlighted that in 2010 forestry sector will follow the overall arrangement by the central government and continue to make great efforts to further push forward forestry reform, strengthen the development of forestry industries, further intensify ecological protection and forest management, carefully prepare the "12th 5-year forestry development plan", fully accomplish the objectives set for 2010.
