ULAN BATOR, August 5 - On Aug.5,2014, the second Sino - Mongolian cooperation meeting on forest fire prevention and joint protection was held in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. Zhang Jianlong, vice administrator of State Forestry Administration of China was presented at the meeting.

At the meeting, the bilateral parts reviewed and appreciated the achievements on forest fire prevention and joint protection they made since both sides officially cooperate, and discussed issues they are all concerned with.

Recognitions on nine aspects were reached: Further work on fire prevention isolation belt construction along the border area, meet regularly, establish a Mongolia-Russia-China working mechanism, reinforce exchanging visits and communication between the bilateral parts, strengthen coordination among departments, ensure communication and contacts among liaison stations, build practical and effective emergency working system on quick fire extinguishing across border, increase fire extinguishing suppliers to Mongolia and encourage China-invested enterprises in Mongolia to join the protection. The bilateral parts both noted that the meeting held this time is very pragmatic and effective, and it creates a new stage of Sino - Mongolian cooperation on forest fire prevention and joint protection.

RUSSIA, July 23 – On 23July 2014 the Third Meeting on Forest Fire Prevention and Joint Protection along Sino-Russian border was held in Vladivostok, the administrative center of Primorsky Krai, Russia.The main aim of the meeting is to implement the bilateral cooperative contents of forest fire prevention and joint protection, and to strengthen and improve bilateral cooperation. The meeting was co-hosted by Zhang Jianlong, vice administrator of State Forestry Administration of China and Zhi Lin, vice administrator of Russian Federal Forest Service.

Zhang Jianlong and Zhi Lin separately introduced the progress of the forest fire prevention and joint protection work since the last meeting, and exchanged opinions deeply on issues they are concerned with. Delegates from National Forest Pest and Disease Prevention Station representing China put forward eight detailed suggestions, including making clear the emergency channels on a national level, updating the contacts of joint protection stations at a grass-roots level as soon as possible, holding a temporary face-to-face meeting in the near future, setting regular meeting time of the national joint meeting, establishing provincial joint prevention system, reinforcing visit exchanging on technology aspects.

The bilateral parts reached recognitions on several important aspects, including coordinating authorities of foreign affairs and frontier defenses to join the emergency liaison net,and jointly launching fire extinguishing exercises.
