BEIJING, October 18 – On October 15, the State Forestry Administration organized a seminar on the strategy for implementation of forestry-related international conventions. Chaired by the Department of International Cooperation, leaders from departments and offices of policies and laws, afforestation, protection, endangered species protection, desertification, science and technology, research center, wetlands and the Chinese Academy of Forestry as well as experts attended the meeting.

BEIJING, November 24–The seminar on foreign forest-related negotiations, organized by the Department of International Cooperation of the State Forestry Administration, was held in Beijing on November 11-12, 2009. Officials from relevant departments, organizations responsible for implementation of international conventions and institutes under the administration were present at the meeting.

BEIJING, April 16 –The office for the implementation of Forest Instrument was set up at the center for foreign cooperation projects under the State Forestry Administration to strengthen the implementation of the Non-binding Legally Instrument on All Types of Forests (Forest Instrument).

BEIJING – The State Forestry Administration held a meeting on the management and experience of convention implementation in Beijing on December 31, 2006. Presided over by the Department of International Cooperation, officials from the departments of protection, the office for the implementation of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat, the center for the control of desertification, the center for the management of imports and exports of endangered species and the office for the protection of plant species attended the seminar.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) was reached on May 9, 1992 at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, and was open to signatures during the United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development in June 1992. The convention entered into force on March 21, 1994 and now has 194 contracting parties.
