BEIJING, April 9, Chinadaily -- China's wildlife watchdog released a circular on Wednesday urging local authorities to properly handle wild animals bred in captivity.

The move came after the novel coronavirus prompted central authorities to tighten controls over wildlife trade, disrupting sales and leading some breeders to release animals into the wild in private to reduce expenditures.

QINGHAI, April 9 -- In forming an effective management model to protect grassland, Qinghai province has been the first in China to pilot Grassland Director Responsible System. The Grassland Directors, who are responsible for grassland management and protection, are appointed from the main responsible person of the Party Committees and governments at all levels. HEBEI, April 6 -- Over 93 thousand hectares of grassland would be rehabilitated as planed in Hebei province in 2020. By the end of the year, the grass cover rate in Hebei province is expected to reach over 73%, and over 267 thousand hectares of grassland would be conducted pest control, so as to prevent locust infestation and spreading, as well as invasion to Beijing. Currently, the 2020 grassland rehabilitation promotion plan has been released.

BEIJING, April 2 -- China has been strengthening grassland protection and rehabilitation through top-level designing, according to the National Grassland Administration of China, the strive including developing the grass resources property rights system, strictly implementing policy and regulation of grassland protection and rehabilitation, classifying protection responsibility, improving grassland rational utilization system, strengthening other basic work to support those mentioned above, and revising the Grassland Law.
