SICHUAN, Apr 1, China.org.cn - A pair of giant pandas were selected on Tuesday as gifts from the central government to Macao after three months of deliberation.

A female panda, numbered 667, and a male, numbered 726, were chosen from 55 candidates who met the age requirement at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan Province, said Zhang Zhihe, the base director.

BEIJING, Mar 6 - The State Forestry Administration briefed the fourth national giant panda survey results to the envoys of Embassies of countries which conduct joint research projects on giant panda with China.

The briefing was hosted by Zhang Hongyan, deputy director general of Department of International Cooperation of State Forestry Administration of China. Ms. Zhang appreciated embassies’ supports to giant panda work and China’s forestry development. It is hoped that cooperation with other countries will be further strengthened by timely communication and mutually support to well protect Pandas.
