NAIROBI, April 27, Xinhua -- United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) on Monday called for governments to forge strategic linkages with multilateral agencies and private corporations in order to boost climate financing.

UNEP Deputy Executive Director, Ibrahim Thiaw, said limited financing towards climate adaptation and mitigation programs threatens sustainability agenda globally.

BEIJING, March 20, Xinhua - The United States and China are working in a closer and more cooperative basis than ever before in tackling climate change and the "common but differentiated responsibility" principle has played a positive role, the U.S. special envoy for climate change Todd D. Stern said here Friday during a press meeting.

Stern said that in the Lima Climate Change Conference when the negotiations were stalled, the CBDR (Common But Differentiated Responsibilities) principle helped break the deadlock and bridge the gap between countries.

CAIRO, March 4, Xinhua -- African ministers and experts of over 50 states gathered in Cairo Wednesday to discuss the environmental challenges facing the continent topped by climate change.

MELBOURNE, Feb 16, Xinhua - Swamps and wetlands could be 50 times more effective than rainforests in storing carbon, an Australian scientist researching the topic said on Monday.

Researchers at Victoria's Deakin University found swamps bank up to one-third of the carbon found in terrestrial soils, yet only occupy 4 percent of the planet's land surface.

BEIJING, Feb 10, Xinhua - On 3th February, the bilateral meeting between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and UK Met Office was held in Beijing. CMA Deputy Administration Jiao Meiyan and Chief Executive of Met Office Rob Varley attended the meeting. In the meeting, two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in issues of climate services, numerical weather prediction, satellite observation and application, education and training and other fields.
