This is the picture of Qingtu Lake taken in November 20th, 2016. Qingtu Lake is located in the lower reaches of Shiyang River Lake, Minqin County of Gansu Province, which is completely dried up in 1959. After years of governance, the dried-up Qingtu Lake is “back to life” in 2010. Statistical data of People's government of Minqin County shows that from 2010 to 2015, the water area of Qingtu Lake increased from 3 square kilometers to 22.36 square kilometers. The surface vegetation was supplied by irrigation, the groundwater level was rising slowly, and the regional environmental quality improved effectively, with the water area of 25.16 square kilometers in 2016.

GANSU, February 10 -- Mingqin, located in the middle of China’s Gansu Province, is a major source of sand storm in China. With kinds of project on desertification prevention and control carried forward, including the straw checkerboard technique, a forest shelterbelt over 300km has been developed on the 408km sand line. Bird viewing from the air, it looks like a Green Wall.

XINJIANG, January 23 -- The construction of Tarim Desert Highway Shelterbelt was officially initiated on 16 August, 2003. With 2000 seedlings planted along the both sides of Tarim Desert Highway, the shelterbelt seems like a green corridor, which is 436 kilometers long and over 70 meters wide. The project fundamentally controlled the hazard of desertification along the Tarim Desert Highway.
