BEIJING, January 20 -- There were 2936 times forest fires occurred in 2015 in China, (the general level accounting for 57%), with 12940 ha forests being damaged, 26 people being injured or dead, which respectively declined by 20.7%,32.3% and 76.8% comparing with the occurrences in 2014. The number of forest fires declined for 7 successive years, and comparing with 2008, it declined by 79.2%.

CHANGCHUN, January 5, Xinhua -- Footprints and dead prey from wild Siberian tigers were found at a tree farm in northeast China's Jilin province, suggesting the expansion of the tiger's population and range of activities in China, local authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

According to sources with the Baishishan Forestry Bureau, which administers the farm, it is the first time traces of wild Siberian tigers have been found within its administration.

A ranger patrolling the farm on December 11 found several footprints, as well as traces of a big animal lying in the snow.

BEIJING, December 30 -- The revised draft of People s Republic of China on the Protection of Wild Life was submitted to the 18th plenary session of Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC). It is the first time for the law to be amended on a large scale since it has taken into force in 1989. The articles of the law in the revised draft increase to 60 from 42. According to the revised draft, illegal online wild animal tradeis banned, and the List of endangered and protected species of China should be evaluated once in every 5 years.
