CHINA, Mar.12 - After ten years of research, Yang Wenbin and his project partners established a model for low-covered (15%~25%) wind prevention and sand fixation. It is found that with coverage of near natural vegetation(15%~25%), planting trees in the shape of belt or grid could fix quicksand completely. The finding won several national patents, as well as the first prize for scientific and technological progress in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2013 (released in late 2014).

At present, the model was demonstrated in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Gansu province, and the model was also widely used in the Beijing-Tianjin Sandstorm Control Program, and made great contribution to it.
