BEIJING, May 6 -- The meeting on drafting the China’s Natural Forest Protection and Rehabilitation Plan (2021-2035) was held at the end of April, 2020. Officials from the Inventory and Planning Institute of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, who are responsible for making the Plan, reported the ideas of making the Plan from the aspects of data, techniques, policy brief, etc.
On August 2019, China unveiled a plan to protect and restore the country's forests, with the aim of reaching a total area of 200 million hectares by 2035. According to the plan, a mechanism for forest protection and restoration will be developed for all of the country's natural forests by 2020. By 2050, a fully functioning ecosystem will be completed, which will play a fundamental role in the country's sustainable development goals.
