World Wetlands Day
2 February each year is World Wetlands Day to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
China pays high attention to wetland protection
Xi inspects ecological wetland of Dianchi Lake
KUNMING, January 20 -- Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Monday visited an ecological wetland of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.
Xi visited the wetland to examine the protection and pollution treatment of the lake during an inspection tour to the province.

China releases ecological status of international important wetlands in China in 2019
Till the end of 2019, the number of wetland of international importance reached to 57,including 56 wetlands in mainland China, and 1 in Hongkong. The this time is focused on mainland China.
According to the evaluation status of wetlands status released recently, the land and watershed of wetlands of international importance are both improved. China will further strengthen the wetland monitoring, establishing research monitoring mechanism , annual monitoring mechanism improvement , wetland ecological compensation policy implementation,public awareness of wetland protection improvement, so as to realize precise wetland protection and management.
