BEIJING, May 8 – Zhang Yongli, deputy administrator of the State Forestry Administration, led a Chinese delegation to the 2014 conference of the MegaForestais in Buea, Cameroon, on May 5. Participants to the conference held in-depth discussion and exchanged views on the theme of “forests in 300 years and actions now to secure them”.
Zhang briefed the participants on the latest development of China’s forestry. He also expounded China’s views and stance on topics as opportunities and challenges for the global forestry, forest ownership reforms, forest development, forestry’s role in fighting climate change and the construction of forestry organizations.
During the conference, Zhang also met Philip Ngole Ngwese, the Cameroon minister of forestry and wildlife. They had in-depth discussions about strengthening forestry and wildlife cooperation between the two countries, and discussed issues relating to the signing of a memorandum on forestry cooperation.
