SICHUAN, May 30 -- Major breakthroughs on captive giant panda were made with years of efforts by China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda, including the difficulty in estrus, mating, conception and nurturing cubs. The center has created the world’s biggest captive population of giant panda. Until the end of 2018, the number of the population has reached to 285, accounting for 60% of the world’s number.

The number of the captive giant panda population reached 422 by the end of 2015, and is aimed to reach 500 in China by 2020.
