AUSTRIA, May 20 -- Yuanyuan, a 20-year-old male giant panda, left Chengdu on April 16, 2019 for Austria and met the public in Schonbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria on May 20.
Peng Youdong, Deputy Administrator of National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China attended the ceremony, and handed over Yuanyuan’s archives to Margarete Schramböck, Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs of Austria. The ceremony officially started the giant panda research program on Yuanyuan. The 4-year research on Yuanyuan in Austria will enhance China's cooperation with Austria in areas such as breeding, disease control and prevention as well as the reproduction of giant panda.
