GUIYANG, February 26 -- China actively promotes Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to apply from the China's "South-South Cooperation Fund" to combat desertification control in 8 economies in Central Asia and Africa, with a planned funding of about $2 million, said Zhang Jianlong, Administrator of National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China at the intersession meeting of 13th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNCCD held in Guiyang, Guizhou province.

A Knowledge Management Center was established by the UNCCD secretariat and the Ningxia Hui autonomous region's forestry and grassland bureau during the meeting, which aims to share experience on desertification prevention and control and conduct relevant capacity buildings.
