BELGRADE, May 14 -- The 2nd High Level Meeting of the Coordination Mechanism for Cooperation in Forestry between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) was held in Belgrade, capital of Serbia on May 14, 2018. Liu Dongsheng, Deputy Administrator of State Forestry and Grassland Administration of China attended the meeting.
Mr. Liu said that there was great potential between China and the CEEC, since the CEEC is an emerging force and an important tie in connecting with Eurasian continent, while China and the CEEC are complementary to each other in the field of forestry. In recent years, the forestry cooperation among the 17 countries goes well, such as the cooperation on forestry science, research and education, as well as trade and investment in forestry are steadily promoted, which also become an important part for the cooperation between China and the CEEC. Mr. Liu also expressed that China wishes to further establish and broaden the bilateral and regional forestry cooperation mechanisms based on the current cooperation fields and priorities, and to create a platform for research institute and enterprises for information sharing.
During the meeting, the representatives had deep discussions on the topic of ‘Climate Change and Forestry in the 21st Century’, and passed the ‘Statement on Forest and Climate Change’. At the same time, they also witnessed the launching ceremony of the cooperation mechanism website between China and the CEEC (www.china-ceecforestry.org). The 2018-2020 Action Plan and content for cooperation were also reviewed and approved.
