SEOUL, November 9 -- Peng Youdong, Deputy Administrator of State Forestry Administration of China led a delegation to attend the 4th APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Forestry (MMRF4), which was held in Seoul from 30 October to 1 November 2017. About 100 delegates joined the Meeting, including Forestry Ministers from APEC economies, high officials and International organizations. Zhao Shucong, Board of Director of APFNet was also invited to attend the Meeting. Prime Minister Lee Nak-Yon of the Republic of Korea delivered Congratulatory Remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Meeting. Keynote speakers from FAO, ITTO and UNFF introduced the lasted international forestry development.

Recognizing the important role that forests play in today’s world, this Meeting focused on the progress towards the APEC 2020 Forest Cover Goal, cooperation to combat illegal logging and associated trade, and future forestry cooperation among APEC economies. Mr. Peng introduced the measures and development made by Chinese forestry departments towards the APEC 2020 Forest Cover Goal and he also expressed that China would play its active role, together with all economies and related international and regional organizations, in realizing the Goal and promote forestry development in the Asia Pacific region.

‘The Seoul Statement of the MMRF4’ was adopted at the Meeting on 31 October 2017.
