CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Philippines, February 29 -- The 26th Session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC), in conjunction with the third Asia-Pacific Forestry Week (APFW) 2016, was held in Clark Freeport Zone, Philippines, 22-26 February 2016. Co-hosted by the Republic of the Philippines' Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the event attracted 28 member countries and 23 international organizations to attend.
With the theme “Growing Our Future!”, the meeting reviewed current international forestry policies and the state of Asia forestry, discussed topics on forest’s role in addressing climate change, forest and natural disaster, forest and landscape restoration and development of community forestry.

Director-general Su Chunyu of International Cooperation Department led colleagues from Afforestation and Greening Department, Forest Resources Management Department, Development Planning and Assets Management Department of State Forestry Administration (SFA), and Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF), attended the meeting and related events.
The delegation participated actively in topic discussing, and introduced China’s efforts in forestry to act on climate change, forest resource management and forest landscape restoration. During the event, the head of SFA delegation also conducted bilateral meetings with delegations from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Fiji on further cooperation in forestry.
Created in 1949, the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) is one of six Regional Forestry Commissions established by FAO to provide a policy and technical forum for countries to discuss and address forest issues on a regional basis. It meets every two years. China hosted the 24th APFC and the second APFW in 2011 in Beijing.
