YUNNAN, December 16, China.org.cn -- Two boas have been found when workers repaired road in one construction site in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

The bigger one is about 100 years old and the body is 3.76 meters long. Several policemen of local Forestry Public Security have released them into the wild after thorough measurements.

ZHENGZHOU, December 16, Xinhua -- Twenty-two bustards, which are a rare, protected species, have been spotted on wetland along the Yellow River in central China's Henan Province, it was announced on Friday.

As an extremely-endangered species, bustards are included by the International Center for Birds of Prey (ICBP) in the red book of the world's endangered birds. There are only about 500 bustards in China, said Zhang Yifan, deputy director with the administrative office of the Sanmenxia Yellow River Wetland.

HENAN, December 15, Chinadaily -- A total of 22 great bustards were spotted at Swan Lake Wetland National Park in Sanmenxia, Henan province. It is the fourth time that the birds have been spotted in the city, according to Zhang Yifan, deputy director of the park's management department.

The great bustard is among the largest hunting birds and one of the heaviest able to fly. The birds average a height of 60 to 70 cm and a weight of 10 kg. "The number of great bustards in China is only about 500. The bird is more precious than the white swans," said Zhang.
