BEIJING, July 4, Xinhua - On July 3, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) released China's weather and climate features of June including the average precipitation was more and the average temperature was higher than long term average; southern China saw frequent rainfall processes; Northeast and North China got more showers; this year's No.7 typhoon "Hagibis" made its landfall in Guangdong; drought conditions in Yunnan and southern Sichuan reduced.
In the past June, China's average precipitation was 100.7mm, slightly more than the long term average (99.3mm). From the spatial aspect, the precipitation of northern North China, southern Northeast China, some places of north part of the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley, central and west parts of Northwest China, central Sichuan, central and eastern Yunnan, some places of eastern Guangxi and Zhejiang was 20% to 100% more, Xinjiang and western Inner Mongolia, over 100%.
In June, China's average temperature was 20.5℃, 0.5℃ higher than long term average (20.0℃). From the spatial aspect, the temperatures of most places were similar to or higher than the long term average. In northeastern Inner Mongolia, northern Northeast China, most places of Tibet, western Southwest China and central and eastern South China, the temperatures were 1 to 2℃ higher.
Southern China got rainstorm processes for 6 times. The precipitation of most places of south was over 100mm, in most places of South China, most places of south of the Yangtze and eastern Southwest China, 200 to 300mm. As for Northeast China, most places of North China, the Yellow-Huaihe River Valley, east of Northwest China and eastern Inner Mongolia, the precipitation was over 50mm. Compared with the long term average, the precipitation of central Heilongjiang, most places of Jilin and Liaoning, eastern Inner Mongolia, Beijing and northern Hebei was 20% to 100% more.
This year's No.7 typhoon "Hagibis" formed on June 14 and made its landfall in Guangdong at 16:00 of June 15. This has been the first typhoon landing in China in 2014, 10 days earlier than normal years.
After June 4, rainfall increased in Yunnan and southern Sichuan. Until June 18, the precipitation of Yunnan and southern Sichuan has been 100 to 150mm, which remarkably reduced the local drought conditions.
Presently, most places of China do not get obvious meteorological drought.
