GUANGDONG, September 4 -- The International Conference for Snow Leopard Conservation was opened in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China on September 4, 2018. Some 200 officials and experts from snow leopards distributed economies, NGOs and institutions attended the conference and discussed about snow leopard conservation, by strengthening scientific researches and providing policy suggestions. Mr. Li Chunliang, Deputy Administrator of National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China was presented at the conference and made a speech.
Mr. Li noted that China has been actively taking great endeavor to conserve snow leopards. In 2013, Snow Leopard Conservation Action Plan was released, which aims to conserve snow leopards by formulating local conservation plan, developing diversified conservation mechanism, strengthening capacities for law enforcement agencies, and conducting international cooperation through investigation, monitoring, and basic scientific research. He also said that Chinese government would further strengthen the input for snow leopard conservation, especially under the Belt and Road initiative, China would strengthen the communication and exchanges with snow leopard distributed economies, international organizations and experts, sharing advanced conservation techniques and management experience, exploring and implementing more transboundary habitat conservation cooperation projects.
