INNER MONGOLIA, July 29 -- The Sixth Kubuqi International Desert Forum was kicked off on 29 July 2017 in the Kubuqi Desert in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Chinese President Xi Jinping made remarks in a congratulatory letter to the forum.
The Sixth Kubuqi International Desert Forum was concluded on 30 July 2017 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China.
President Xi noted that desertification is a severe challenge facing the global community, preventing and controlling desertification is a great cause that benefits both the current and future generations. China has always attached great importance to combating desertification and has made remarkable achievements, and Kubuqi is a good example of China's success in containing desertification.
He also pointed out that, Kubuqi International Desert Forum, since the establishment ten years ago, has become an important platform for nations to exchange experiences in combating desertification and achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year’s forum themed "Greening the Belt and Road, sharing the desert eco-economy," is of great significance to strengthen the cooperation on prevention and control of desertification among countries and regions along the Belt and Road. He hopes the delegates to pool their wisdom and contribute to the building of a green Belt and Road and improvement of global ecological environment.
