TANZANIA, November 2, China Daily -- The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards aim to promote conservation and the welfare of wild animals through a photography competition.

For the 2016 awards, things are heating up as a shortlist of 40 entries has been revealed. This year's competition saw over 2200 hilarious entries submitted from around the world and contest winners will be announced on November 10.

WASHINGTON, October 28 -- The China Garden, a joint project by the US Department of Agriculture and China's State Forestry Administration began construction in Washington on October 28, 2016. The ceremony took place in the US National Arboretum in Washington.

Zhang Jianlong, Administrator of State Forestry Administration of China attended the ceremony and made a speech. Mr. Zhang described the China Garden’s important role as bearing the friendship of 1.3 billion Chinese towards the American people, which will also play an active role in promoting the friendship between Chinese and American people, as well as the relationship between the two countries.

PARIS, November 1, China Daily -- Friday will mark another milestone in the global fight against climate change, as the Paris Agreement starts to take effect after at least 55 countries, which account for more than 55 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, have signed the accord. It will also mark a turning point for future UN climate change conferences, with the next one taking place in Marrakech, Morocco, from Nov 7 to 18.

London, November 1, China Daily -- China has topped a global emissions efficiency index for the first time, following a sharp fall in its consumption of coal.

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers' annual Low Carbon Economy Index report, released on Tuesday, coal consumption in the world's second-largest economy fell by 1.5 percent last year.

YANGON, October 31, Xinhua -- China and Myanmar launched a friendship forest ecological project in Yangon Sunday with representatives of the two countries jointly planting saplings of symbolizing bilateral friendship.

The saplings were grown by Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang and Myanmar Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win.
