BEIJING, December 31, China Daily -- The poaching of African elephants and the illegal trade in their ivory is one of the highest profile and destructive forms of wildlife crime in recent years. To save the elephants and other wild animals, Blue Sky Rescue, one of China's largest nongovernmental disaster rescue organizations, has sent volunteers to Africa to join local efforts in wildlife protection. To save elephants, President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Barrack Obama announced in September 2015 that the two countries would "enact nearly complete bans" on ivory imports and exports.
